2010 Pfizer Fellowship in Health Disparities Overview

Program Objective

• To support the career development of talented junior researchers

Program Design

• One award of $130,000, paid over 2 years
• Award is intended for salary support

Eligibility 

• US-based schools of medicine, colleges of osteopathic medicine, nursing schools, pharmacy schools, and schools of public health

• US citizen or US permanent resident who

  • Has a doctoral-level degree
  • Has an appointment as a postdoctoral fellow with an accredited institution
  • Has relevant research training/experience appropriate for the research proposed
  • Does not hold a full-time tenure track faculty position or the equivalent in the first year of fellowship

How to Apply: 

The following is required for all applicants

• Description of research
• Signed letter from the primary mentor detailing the training and development plan of the applicant
• Signed letter from the practice partner mentor supporting the research plan (if applicable)
• Signed letter of assurance from the dean and/or department chair confirming institutional commitment of support
• Signed letter of assurance from two established investigators
• Applicant's curriculum vitae and the primary mentor's biographical sketch
• Inclusion of relevant journal publications (no more than 2) is optional

Selection Process

• Nationally competitive
• Independent academic advisory board selects award recipients
