2010 Pfizer Fellowships in Public Health Overview


Program Objective

  • To support the career development of junior faculty in public health

Program Design

  • Up to 2 awards of $130,000 each, which will be paid out over 2 years at $65,000 per year
  • Award is intended for salary support

Eligibility

  • US-based schools of medicine, colleges of osteopathic medicine, nursing schools, pharmacy schools, and schools of public health
  • US citizen or US permanent resident who

    • Has a doctoral-level degree
    • Has an appointment as a postdoctoral fellow with an accredited institution
    • Has relevant research training/experience appropriate for the research proposed
    • Does not hold a full-time tenure track faculty position or the equivalent in the first year of fellowship

How to Apply:

The following is required for all applicants

  • Description of research
  • Signed letter from the primary mentor detailing the training and development plan of the applicant
  • Signed letter from the additional mentor supporting the applicant's research plan
  • Signed letter of assurance from the dean and/or department chair confirming institutional commitment of support
  • Signed letters of reference from two established investigators
  • Applicant's curriculum vitae and a biographical sketch from the primary mentor
  • Inclusion of relevant journal publications (up to 2) is optional.

  • Nationally competitive
  • Independent academic advisory board selects award recipients
